As a Bible teacher for kids, especially in the 8-12-year-old age group, I know how nice it is to be able to grab a quick coloring sheet on a particular Bible character that we may be studying on a given week. With this in mind, I’ve been working to create a coloring sheet archive that highlights every major character in the Scriptures. So far I have the Old Testament completed and I hope to have the New Testament knocked out in the not-too-distant future. The characters are presented in a gritty, superhero comic style that places the hero in the context of their Scriptural storyline and also includes a central Bible verse highlighting each hero’s incredible faith in God.
The style is purposefully designed to communicate the spiritual toughness and rugged nature of these men and women of faith. Most of these heroes died grisly deaths as martyrs for their faith. As the writer of Hebrews says,
“They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.”
It’s my prayer that this free reproducible resource will help you communicate God’s amazing faithfulness to the kids under your watchful care, and that you will help them to see that God is looking for new heroes of faith to rise up at this time and place in history! Will they be the ones who are willing to step out on faith and seek to transform this dark world with the light and love of our Lord Jesus Christ?
